This is a photo of Allen P. (Sam) McKinnon in 1939. Allen P. McKinnon is "Sam".
Sam never had a brother, only a sister.
When the war was going on he would distribute army recruitment posters entitled
"Uncle Sam Needs You" - When people saw him with the posters they started saying "Here comes uncle Sam.
Hence the knick name “Sam”
